Reflection - Maven Analytics Challenge

Yesterday I finished and submitted my entry to the #MavenEnvironmentalChallenge.

Naturally, I have some thoughts about it now that it's finished.

Some questions I might have asked, if I had the opportunity to connect with Apple.

  • What are the steps already taken to reduce the manufacturing so much? Are they reproducable and repeatable, or are they one-time changes?

  • Product transportation is not a value wholly within your control, how do you plan to make up for that?

  • Is buying carbon credits truly an effective way to reduce carbon? Or does it just assauge the conscience?

To complete the challenge, I looked at the data set in Excel with several different pivot tables and charts to locate trends and correlations.

Once I had some of an idea of what the data was saying, I took to Tableau to put it into visual form.

It took some time and re-familiarizing myself with Tableau, but I'm happy with my results. Of course there's probably something I missed or didn't think of, but this is just the beginning.
