Yesterday I finished and submitted my entry to the #MavenEnvironmentalChallenge.
Naturally, I have some thoughts about it now that it's finished.
Some questions I might have asked, if I had the opportunity to connect with Apple.
What are the steps already taken to reduce the manufacturing so much? Are they reproducable and repeatable, or are they one-time changes?
Product transportation is not a value wholly within your control, how do you plan to make up for that?
Is buying carbon credits truly an effective way to reduce carbon? Or does it just assauge the conscience?
To complete the challenge, I looked at the data set in Excel with several different pivot tables and charts to locate trends and correlations.
Once I had some of an idea of what the data was saying, I took to Tableau to put it into visual form.
It took some time and re-familiarizing myself with Tableau, but I'm happy with my results. Of course there's probably something I missed or didn't think of, but this is just the beginning.
