Another Thought On Growth
One of my first projects when I joined Broadband Catalysts was to figure out how to query a very large and complicated BigQuery dataset. I made some progress but not near enough. I was incredibly worried this indicated I was in way over my head. The project got set aside. Fast forward approximately 18 months, and this project has creeped back up on me. In one afternoon, I've made as much progress (and wayyyyy more understanding) as I ever did in the beginning of this career.

Today I Learned - 11/12/15
Today I learned you can drag and drop colors in QGIS in the symbology options. I've been using this program for over a year and a half. Still learning neat tricks. Is it possible I've heard this before and forgotten? Yes. But now it will (likely) stick. I was watching the Map Academy's - Get OpenStreetMap data into QGIS, fast! video. While I'm not sure I'll use the titular feature in my work, it was fun to pick up a new shortcut.

Map Academy - Exploring Data
Today I watched Map Academy's video - Explore and think BEFORE you map! while waiting for some ✨magical computer processing✨ to happen. It was a great reminder of the importance of exploring, verifying, and handling data. Identifying outliers, verifying coordinates, exploring the attributes, and making sure things look right before spending time mapping the data. It's always good to be reminded of foundational skills for data, and whether you are using geospatial data or not
