An Update

Hello there.

It's been a while, I know.

I had an interesting opportunity, and I've taken it.

I'm using the skills that I've acquired with regards to data and SQL, and I'm learning yet another tool and skill set. I'm learning to use QGIS and Postgres/PostGIS to perform spatial analysis and visualization.

So far I've definitely learned a bit more about data quality and usability.

I've especially learned a lot about locating, understanding, and downloading datasets published by the US government. For example, downloading the csv file is (for my purposes) nowhere near as usable as downloading the zip file.

I've also learned about how the US is divided up on different levels, including counties and census tracts, and the data that is collected on these levels.

There's also a lot of different data file-types, which has been an adventure.

At some point I'll share more, but for now, that's all.
